Beaconsfield MSA

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project was to build a new 24/7 operational filling station with a sales building, carwash and plant room, generator compound, canopy structure and a traditional underground fuel storage facility in excess of one million litres.

The sales building is apart two storey construction comprising a steel framed structure with a double curved metal insulated built up standing seam roof and cavity wall construction blockwork to the single storey part overclad with a purpose made copper rainscreen cladding system, membrane roof areas and high level insulated composite wall cladding panels covered with louvre blades, the total floor area is 543m2, and is built on a reinforced concrete raft with extensive land drainage under.

The carwash, plant room and generator compound are of similar type construction.

The canopy that covers the PLG forecourt is in total 1690m2, it has a standard link detail between the main canopy structure and the sales building, overall it is supported on 21 columns. The canopy for HGV forecourt is in total 493m2, it is completely free standing and is supported on six columns.

The fuel installation comprises of 10 twin-skin steel storage tanks in a conventional underground tank farm installation totalling 1,080,000 litre capacity, an above ground LPG tank, new double contained fuel pipework, 17 PLG fuel dispensers, one combined PLG and LPG fuel dispenser, three HGV fuel dispensers, two tanker off-loading bays and the fuel dispensing is via a pressure system.

The forecourt is surfaced with approx 3000m2 of brushed finished concrete and 5100m2 of stone mastic asphalt, the remaining areas are laid to landscape, drainage to the forecourt is via Aco drain channels and three forecourt superceptors with shut off valves, the system discharges via gravity into an on-site water treatment system.

The shop building was completely fitted out to the client's requirements including a goods lift between the ground and first floor areas.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Broham Forecourt Developments Ltd were the Principal Contractor for the complete project and co-ordinated all client direct contractors.

Broham appointed domestic sub contractors for fuel system complete, electrical installation, building structure and fabric elements and various other works as required.
